Why we build these two meals the way we do
Protein in both meals comes from whole ingredients, not a powder. Black lentils are the single biggest ingredient in the Super Veggie by weight, carrying both protein and resistant starch, a type of starch that passes into your lower gut mostly intact and feeds bacteria there. Lentils and vegetables also digest slowly, so blood sugar rises gently instead of spiking, and the fibre in the mix helps flatten that glycemic response further. A meta-analysis of 14 studies and roughly 367,000 people found the highest legume intake linked to about 10% lower cardiovascular risk than the lowest. Broccoli and cauliflower add glucoraphanin, the compound your body converts into sulforaphane, plus more fibre. One Super Veggie portion has roughly 27 g of protein and 18 g of fibre.
Fibre and polyphenols both shape your gut microbiome, in different ways. Lentils and vegetables in the Super Veggie ferment into short-chain fatty acids that gut bacteria use as fuel. Berries, cocoa, and cherries in the Nutty Pudding supply polyphenols, plant compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects; a 2024 meta-analysis of nearly 179,000 adults linked higher polyphenol intake to 7% lower all-cause mortality. Walnuts and flaxseed add plant-based omega-3 fat, and macadamia and brazil nuts add more unsaturated fat and selenium on top.
Both meals are cooked in small batches, close to your delivery date, not shipped frozen or built to sit on a shelf for months. Minimally processed food tends to leave people eating less without trying: in a controlled inpatient trial, adults on an ultra-processed diet spontaneously ate about 500 more calories a day than on a minimally processed diet matched for calories, sugar, fat, and fibre. We deliver fresh across Zurich on a fixed weekly schedule, so what arrives is close to what you'd cook yourself, not a shelf-stable version of it.
